Manual Machinist

In this hands-on role, you will produce mechanical parts for production and engineering prototypes using manual mills and lathes. You will collaborate closely with the engineering team, follow established production schedules, and help maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual mills and lathes to produce mechanical parts for production and engineering prototypes.
• Interpret and work from blueprints to ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and quality.
• Apply shop math to set up and adjust machining operations accurately.
• Select and use appropriate hand and power tools to complete machining tasks safely and efficiently.
• Follow production schedules and prioritize work to meet deadlines and delivery requirements.
• Maintain shop equipment by performing basic care and reporting any issues promptly.
• Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe shop environment by following housekeeping and safety practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and other shop personnel to resolve machining issues and improve processes as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience operating manual mills and/or lathes.
• Proficiency in manual machining techniques for both mills and lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• Solid understanding of basic shop math applied to machining operations.
• Experience working with common hand and power tools in a shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a smaller, multi-department shop environment.
• Comfort working on both production parts and engineering prototypes.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts.
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the engineering team.
• Willingness to support general shop organization and cleanliness.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Big Lake, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
