Responsibilities The SOC Assistant Supervisor performs all core SOC Operator functions while serving as the on‑duty leader of the Security Operations Center. This role is the primary point of contact for on‑site leadership and is responsible for running the room 24/7 during assigned shifts. Assistant Supervisors provide real‑time operational oversight, decision making, and escalation management while maintaining the same high‑level communications and situational‑awareness responsibilities as SOC Operators. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM. Leadership & Command Responsibilities Serve as the lead authority in the SOC during assigned shifts. Act as the primary liaison for on‑site leadership and responding partners. Coordinate complex or high‑risk incidents and ensure proper escalation. Maintain operational flow during high‑volume or critical events. Support and guide SOC Operators in real time during emergent situations. Communications & Monitoring Lead and manage radio, phone, intercom, and dispatch communications. Oversee monitoring of cameras, alarms, access control, and alerting systems. Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to response workflows. The SOC Assistant Supervisor also provides coverage of a SOC Operator position while working. In the absence of a SOC Supervisor, provides watch officer coverage of security incidents identified through open‑source information monitoring and oversees response processes related to the dispatch of Campus Security Officers enterprise‑wide and the escalation of moderate to severe incidents to Security Leadership. Assists with SOC training for all new employees, ongoing continuing education, training, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. Assists the SOC Supervisor to assure adequate staffing for 24‑hour/7‑day‑a‑week operations. In the absence of the SOC Supervisor, the SOC Assistant Supervisor will maintain communications and working relationships with outside agencies, introduce new technologies and procedures to the SOC while maintaining existing business practices and contractual arrangements, gather and collate open‑source security information, assess/monitor real‑world security events for escalation, provide on‑call coverage for the SOC and fill the Security Hospital Incident Command role when needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with one year of operations center, security, healthcare, law enforcement or military experience or Associates degree with three years of operations center, security, healthcare, law enforcement or military experience or HS/GED with five years of operations center, security, healthcare, law enforcement or military experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience working within a security/emergency dispatch or operations center preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office required. Project management experience preferred. Working knowledge of security systems technology (video management, access control, and radio communications systems) preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to manage alarm dispatching. Must be a problem solver and maintain the ability to make sound decisions without direct supervision during stressful situations. The preferred candidate will be detail‑oriented, mission‑driven, and able to multi‑task continuously. Emergency Telecommunications certification is preferred. Board certification through ASIS (CPP or PSP) preferred. Certification in Lenel access control and Genetec video management system preferred. Knowledge of the intelligence cycle and basic analyst skillset preferred. Working knowledge of radio communications. Basic computer knowledge. Excellent communication skills for interacting with all levels of Mayo Clinic patients, physicians, and staff. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mayo Core Principals. Must be certified in Emergency Telecommunications (ETC) at the time of hire or become certified within one year of employment. The SOC will assist applicants that are not currently certified in Emergency Telecommunications to obtain their certification after hire. Preferred Skills Excel in command and control environments. Comfortable making decisions with incomplete or evolving information. Can maintain focus and authority during sustained high‑tempo operations. Communicate clearly and confidently with leadership and frontline staff. Exemption Status Nonexempt Compensation Detail $32.39 - $43.73 / hour.
