Business Product Owner - Store Apps and Devices

About the Team There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business. About the Location Collaborative Work Environment: At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job Business Product Owner - Store Apps and Devices is responsible for the business ownership, support, and continuous improvement of assigned store technology products that enable operational execution and improve the associate experience. This role partners across Store Operations, Technology, Digital, Field Leadership, and other business functions to define business requirements, prioritize product enhancements, support product delivery, and ensure technology solutions align with operational needs and enterprise priorities. The position serves as the business subject matter expert for assigned store technology products, supporting the product lifecycle through business partnership, operational support, continuous improvement, and ongoing evaluation to deliver measurable business value. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Own the business operations and day-to-day success of assigned store technology products. Develop and maintain product roadmaps aligned with operational priorities and business needs. Define business requirements and translate operational needs into scalable technology solutions. Prioritize and manage the product backlog in partnership with Technology and business stakeholders. Serve as the primary business contact for assigned technology products, representing operational priorities and coordinating with Technology throughout the product lifecycle. Support product delivery activities including business validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation readiness, and adoption. Monitor product performance and identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, associate experience, and business outcomes. Serve as the business subject matter expert for assigned technology products, providing operational guidance and support to cross-functional partners. Partner with Technology, Digital, vendors, Field Leadership, and business stakeholders to support product enhancements, issue resolution, and long-term product success. Lead the business response for assigned technology products during operational incidents by assessing business impacts, coordinating communications, defining operational workarounds, and partnering with Technology through issue resolution and service restoration. Identify opportunities to modernize store technology capabilities through continuous improvement, automation, and emerging technology. Supervisory Responsibilities Individual contributor with responsibility for leading assigned business products through cross-functional influence and partnership. May lead cross-functional workgroups, product initiatives, or pilots without direct supervisory responsibility. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business, Operations, Technology, or related field preferred. 3–5 years of experience in retail operations, product management, business systems, technology, or related disciplines required. Experience translating operational needs into business requirements and technology solutions preferred. Experience supporting technology implementations, product enhancements, or operational systems preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong business acumen and operational understanding. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. High ethical standards and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Ability to influence cross-functional partners and build strong business relationships. Experience developing business requirements and supporting technology-enabled business solutions. Strong prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Ability to analyze operational challenges and translate insights into actionable recommendations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
