Maintenance technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Maintenance Technician to join our team in San Diego. This hands-on role is responsible for ensuring peak operational efficiency through the mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of food manufacturing equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical expertise, high initiative, and a team-first attitude to set a positive tone for the maintenance team.

salary: $79,000 - $95,680 per year

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain food manufacturing machinery, including kettles, cookers, mixers, cutters, dicers, baggers, sealers, conveyors, coolers, and freezers.
• Perform high-level troubleshooting with an emphasis on 70% electrical and 30% mechanical issues.
• Work extensively with VFD drives, AC/DC systems, single & 3-phase motors, relays, contactors, cylinders, and vacuum systems.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble complex processing and packaging equipment (e.g., horizontal pour & fill, flow wrappers, form & fill baggers).

• Execute, update, and maintain the facility's Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule to minimize unexpected downtime.
• Receive, process, dispatch, and complete work orders accurately within the maintenance software system.
• Conduct clear, thorough daily shift pass-downs and Work-In-Progress (WIP) communication.

• erform general facility and grounds maintenance, including basic plumbing, painting, flooring, wall repairs, shelving, and HVAC/lighting support.
• Utilize shop tools safely, including lathes, presses, milling machines, welding equipment, and pneumatic/hydraulic power tools.
• Safely operate ladders, aerial lifts, and electric pallet jacks.

The essential functions of this role include:

• working in a smoke free environment
• wearing steel toe shoes
• working in a non-temperature controlled environment
• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 8 hours at one time
• working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week
• working weekends
