Mississippi Urology Clinic - Jackson / Flowood, MS has an immediate need for a PRN Ultrasound Technician to join their team! Responsibilities Operate ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of various areas of the body. Interpret and analyze diagnostic images to provide preliminary findings for physicians. Maintain patient records, reports, and other administrative tasks. Monitor screen during scan to ensure that the image produced is satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Adjust equipment controls as per the physician's order to capture a clear image. Maintain ultrasound equipment and sterilize the room in which the procedure takes place. Determine whether scope of exam should be extended, based on findings. Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Knowledge Ultrasound Technician, or Sonographer, must possess a blend of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills. Understanding of human anatomy, medical terminology, and the operation of sophisticated medical equipment. Ability to empathize with patients, ensure patient comfort and communicate effectively is equally crucial. Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment. Ability to interpret ultrasound images. Familiarity with patient management systems. Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards. Ability to perform minor maintenance on ultrasound equipment. Problem-solving skills. Educational Requirements Associate’s degree in sonography or a related field. A bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required. Professional certification from organizations like the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is highly recommended. Practical clinical experience gained during the degree program is crucial.
