Director of People & Culture

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

Position: Director of People & Culture

Department: Administration

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt, full time position

Immediate Supervisor: Executive Director

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is excitedly looking to add a Director of People & Culture to our team. We see the immense value of human-centered work and are excited to welcome in an experienced professional who is aligned with our team's approach to people and mission-centric work.

You may be the perfect fit for this position if...

You believe that a nonprofit organization's focus on helping their employees thrive is critical to the organization's ability to effectively carry out its mission.

You love getting the details right and are jazzed about utilizing HR software, streamlining onboarding/offboarding procedures, and ensuring that all the details of HR record-keeping are in tip top shape.

You are a self-starter and have impeccable follow through skills.

You have experience helping employees thrive in their jobs while maintaining professional boundaries and upholding what's best for the organization as a whole.

You believe that attending to the whole professional in each employee brings the best results for all and are open to innovative approaches such as collaborating with outside professionals for management trainings, social worker support sessions, and more.

You've seen that fun, laughter, and joy play a key role in creating an impactful work environment and would be excited to put together teambuilding outings, holiday parties, and other group engagement activities to increase comradery and workplace whimsy.

You understand that animal welfare professionals are inherently exposed to trauma through our mission work and would welcome thinking outside the box to help create an organizational culture full of deep care, support, physiological safety, honest communication, and open-hearted conversations.

You love HR work - the systems coordination and HR compliance pieces, the support and guidance for team members, and the development of systems and strategies to best support the organization.

You are known to be approachable, helpful and welcoming.

You believe that collaboration is key to success and want to play a role in nurturing a work environment where staff feedback is encouraged and valued.

You lead with empathy, curiosity, and clear communication. We practice nonviolent communication and prioritize emotional intelligence and collaborative problem solving. We're looking for someone who understands that culture is just as important as process.

You value work-life balance. We aim to keep impactful, passionate people in animal welfare long term. We believe that the health of our people determines the health of the organization. That's why we actively support staff wellbeing and prioritize creating a healthy work culture. Read more here about how we address this.

You have read Brother Wolf's value statement, workplace culture statement, employment webpage, and philosophy webpage and feel deeply aligned.

And finally... you've made it to the bottom of this list and feel genuinely excited to connect with us about this opportunity!
