Supplier Quality Engineer  

\n

\n

What you will do  
\n Within Johnson Controls’ Data Center Solutions group, you will play a key role supporting Supplier Quality.  You will monitor supplier performance, execute Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new and modified parts/components, drive daily supplier quality issues to closure, analyze supplier issues across Silent-Aire plants, and track supplier cost of poor quality and initiate supplier chargebacks.

How you will do it  

\n

\n
• \n

  Work closely with the plant Quality Engineers to address supplier issues. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Coordinate the isolation and containment of suspect supplied material. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Manage the return materials process to suppliers. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Coordinate the sorting/rework activities with the suppliers. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Communicate across the North American plants to determine the top five issues and worst performing suppliers for transfer to Corporate Supplier Quality. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Work with suppliers to ensure that effective root cause and preventive actions are provided for supplier issues. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Review and approve supplier corrective actions. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Monitor key KPIs relating to supplier issues (i.e. responsiveness, repeat issues, etc.). 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Develop receiving inspection strategies based on critical components defined by the DFMEA (design failure mode and effect analysis) process and past supplier performance. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Execute Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new and modified parts/components according to JCI procedures and standards. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Participating with the corporate Supplier Quality Team to evaluate new and existing suppliers. 

\n

\n

\n

\n

What we look for  
Required:  

\n

\n
• \n

  Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other technical discipline. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  3 years’ experience within supplier quality engineering (SQE) and/or assurance (SQA). 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Proven track record using structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve manufacturing and systemic issues. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Effectively operate in cross-functional teams. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Ability to communicate with multiple cultures/regions . 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Up to 30% business travel (domestic and international). 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  AIAG Core tools working knowledge (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, Control Plan). 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Exhibit a high-level of self-motivation, sense of urgency and comfortable making recommendations across broad teams. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to construct and present information to a wide range of audiences internally and externally and to handle conflict properly. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  To be comfortable in demanding accountability from peers when needed, be open to receiving constructive feedback and react to getting better. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Familiarity with reading/Interpreting Engineering drawings and understanding GD&T, CAD software. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Experience with ISO 9001. 

\n

\n

\n

Preferred:  

\n

\n
• \n

  Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other technical discipline. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  ASQ Certified CQE.  

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Structured problem-solving training/certification (Lean/Six Sigma training, Green or Black Belt, Red X/Shainin). 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Formal training/certification in AIAG Core Tools. 

\n

\n

\n
• \n

  Formal Auditor training/certification.  

\n

\n

\n

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000-$117,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
