About the Unit The Mount Carmel St. Ann's NICU is a 23-bed level III unit that keeps all gestations here and sends surgical patients and patients requiring multiple subspecialty consults. It follows Nationwide Children's Hospital policies and staff have access to their education on neonatal care. About the job The Registered Nurse (RN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, provides care in an environment sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The staff RN is accountable for patient care using the Nursing Process within Mount Carmel Health System policies, procedures, and guidelines. What you will do Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients using evidence-based practice; assist providers with patient assessment, examinations and treatments; perform basic medical procedures under provider supervision. Administer medications under provider direction according to organizational standards. Assist in emergency situations under provider direction. Educate and explain procedures to patients and family members (diagnosis, disease process, etc.). Document accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with documentation standards. Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers. What we are looking for Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Experience in an NICU setting preferred. Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio. Current BLS/CPR certification. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation to and supervision of other team members. Basic computer skills required; prior experience using an EMR for charting preferred.
