Job Summary Location: Methodist College Address: 720 N. 87th St. - Omaha, NE. Work Schedule: One evening per week, 5:00pm to 10:00pm. While adhering to the mission and values of the College, the Adjunct Instructor for Nursing Assistant Certificate Course will provide a learning environment and provide experiences to prepare learners in their future role in healthcare. Responsibilities Promotes a positive learning environment within the classroom, lab and clinical setting and encourages maximum student participation. Establishes positive rapport with students and employees. Utilizes and follows the curriculum and resources provided. Able to teach evenings and weekends; daytime schedules may also be available. Responsible for the maintenance of equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition. Records and forwards attendance, testing, and evaluation materials to the appropriate contacts within the Division of Professional Development. Ensures classroom, lab spaces and supplies are orderly. Willing to train and teach in all educational roles within the department as needed (Nursing Assistant Instructor, Medication Aide Instructor, Nursing Assistant State Tester, and RN Refresher Instructor). Answers phones, triages calls and fields questions as needed. Participates in team meetings. Copies and scans program materials. Assists with skills sign off and evaluations to ensure students are competent in all areas required. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Professional Development. Job Requirements Education: Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) or RN diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Experience: 1 or more years teaching experience preferred; 1 or more years experience in nursing required. License/Certifications: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire; required within 3 months of hire. Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required. Skills and Knowledge Computer knowledge and use of technology for didactic portion of courses. Excellent communication, reading, and writing skills. Exceptional customer service and supportive relationship skills essential. Professional image and excellent customer service skills. Physical Requirements Weight Demands: Light Work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force. Physical Activity Occasionally Performed (1%-33%): Balancing, Climbing, Carrying, Crawling, Crouching, Distinguishing colors, Kneeling, Lifting, Pulling/Pushing, Reaching, Standing, Stooping/bending, Twisting, Walking. Frequently Performed (34%-66%): Hearing, Repetitive Motions, Seeing/Visual, Speaking/talking. Constantly Performed (67%-100%): Fingering/Touching, Grasping, Keyboarding/typing, Sitting. Job Hazards Biological agents (primary airborne and bloodborne viruses), Blood or Body Fluid (BBF). Physical hazards: noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, outdoors, sharps. Equipment/Machinery/Tools: Explosives (pressurized gas), Electrical Shock/Static, Radiation (Alpha, Beta, Gamma particles such as X-ray, Cat Scan, Gamma Knife), Non-Ionizing (Ultraviolet, visible light, infrared, microwaves). Rare (1-33%): Chemical agents (toxic, corrosive, flammable, latex). Mechanical moving parts/vibrations.
