Head Softball Coach

This position is responsible for all components of a highly competitive NJCAA Division I softball program, including recruiting, on field coaching, and overseeing conduct and discipline for student athletes, and academic advising student-athletes. The position is 80% softball, and 20% advising.

Responsibilities include supervising all team practices, competition, and student athletes; developing and executing a recruitment plan; developing practice plans and game strategies for upcoming opponents; developing practice schedules and teaching the fundamental skills and drills of softball; performing on-field instruction and player development; organizing team travel for away games; conducting and supervising individual trainings for student athletes and off-season conditioning; monitoring progress of student athletes and implementing strategies to ensure academic and athletic success with an emphasis on sportsmanship, integrity, a competitive spirit, and academic success; promoting athletic program and events to the campus and community and raising funds in conjunction with the Office of Advancement and the President's Office; managing Softball program budget; managing scholarship awards in coordination with the Director of Athletics; managing and caring for softball equipment and supervising maintenance of playing fields; maintaining Softball website; representing the college at all regional and national meetings as required; performing assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of the college; maintaining sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds; and performing other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications include knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field; experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience; possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; and required to hold a GHC purchasing card which requires a credit check to receive and continue holding a purchasing card.

Proposed salary is commensurate with experience.
