Job Description

This role focuses on safely operating a sit-down forklift within the shipping and receiving department to load, unload, move, and store bulk materials. The position also involves using computer-based systems to update and track inventory levels, performing light quality checks on products, and supporting continuous improvement activities throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift and pallet jack to safely load and unload materials for processing.

• Move, stage, and store bulk materials and scrap metals in designated inventory and storage areas.

• Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including picking, loading, and unloading materials from trucks and within the warehouse.

• Use computer-based systems to update, track, and monitor inventory levels accurately and in a timely manner.

• Perform light quality checks on produced product, ensuring it meets basic standards before tagging it for shipping.

• Tag and label products correctly for shipping and inventory control.

• Retrieve a variety of materials from across the facility as needed for processing or shipment.

• Maintain general upkeep and cleanliness of the work area, including warehouse and shipping/receiving zones.

• Participate actively in continuous improvement activities and support process enhancements within the department.

• Follow all safety procedures and remain continuously aware of safe operating practices while working in the facility.

• Handle materials and products using appropriate material handling equipment and tools.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow in shipping, receiving, and inventory control.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse, manufacturing, construction, or distribution environment.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working inside a manufacturing, construction, or distribution company is ideal.

• Proficiency in basic computer skills to use computer-based systems for daily operations and inventory updates.

• Ability to update, track, and monitor inventory levels accurately.

• Experience with shipping and receiving, including loading, unloading, picking, and staging materials.

• Material handling experience using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.

• Ability to perform light quality checks on products and tag items correctly for shipping.

• Capability to perform general labor tasks in a warehouse or production setting.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & QualificOur Clientons

• Background in manufacturing production is beneficial.

• Experience working in a metal processing facility or similar manufacturing environment is an advantage.

• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

• Comfort working around metals and scrap materials.

• Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to handle physically demanding tasks.

Work Environment

The role is based in a warehouse and production facility, primarily within the shipping and receiving department. The environment involves working around metals, scrap materials, and bulk product, using sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Work includes regular physical activity such as loading, unloading, and moving materials, as well as using hand and power tools. Daily tasks require the use of computer-based systems for inventory and operational updates. The setting is fast-paced and safety-focused, with an expectation of maintaining a clean and organized work area and following all facility safety procedures.

This is a Contract position based out of Richland, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
