Lab Assistant

Job Title

Role Purpose:

Ensure that all program and procedures are followed and implemented as described by the company guidelines. Maintain a high degree of quality, while working efficiently and cost effectively. Responsible for processing and analyzing samples collected from the farms under direct supervision of the Pedigree Laboratory Department Supervisor.

Job Description:

Applicants are not allowed to own any kind of birds due to the risk of possible disease transmission.

Job Duties:

• Maintain sufficient inventory of supplies to prevent work delays
• Accurately process and analyze samples in a time efficient manner
• Follow procedures outlined in the laboratory work instructions
• Prepare media and solutions used in the laboratory
• Enter samples and results into data management system
• Be willing to work weekend rotations
• Responsible for the quality of work performed as well as the quality of the product produced.
• Follow company policy and meet established procedures regarding bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO, drug, and alcohol policy.
• Ensure all possible controls are in place to preserve and protect the purity and security of our bloodlines from possible contamination and/or theft.
• Attendance is expected and required during normal working hours or during the assigned working schedule determined by the supervisor.

Desired Requirements for the Role:

Specific Experience:

• Previous lab experience preferred but not required

Specific Training:

• Basic computer knowledge including creating documents and spreadsheets
• Ability to communicate via email

Personal Qualities:

• Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to accomplish daily and weekly goals as well as deal with changing testing needs requested by supervisors or the veterinarian
