This role manages a defined patient care area to provide a climate optimal for the provision of individualized goal directed nursing care that supports the mission, vision and values of Medical City Frisco and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. Responsibilities Compliance with 5 Standards of Star Service; always delivering exceptional service to patients, physicians, guests, coworkers, volunteers and vendors. Maintain education and development appropriate for the position. Adhere to established hospital and department guidelines and protocols. Supports hospital mission, vision, and values. Develop and implement a plan for assuring delivery of individual goal directed nursing care using the nursing process. Provide care in an evidence-based environment. Practice autonomously, consistent with practice standards and research-based policy/procedures. Exercise independent judgment within the context of interdisciplinary patient care. Provide care/treatment/services within the Synergy Model and Evidenced Based Practices. Delegate tasks appropriate to meet the needs of the individual patient and to the skills of the employee supervised. Develop and implement a plan for care delivery with patient safety as the primary goal. Demonstrate expertise in selecting and managing unit-based staff. Demonstrate commitment to customer focused care, star service and service recovery. Review budget and assume responsibility for maintaining operating expenses at target levels. Incorporate the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and the hospital\u2019s mission, vision and values and Five Indicators of success in the design and implementation of a plan for staff development, care delivery and unit growth. Participate in and encourage staff participation in performance improvement as an educational experience and a tool for continual improvement of quality of care and nursing sensitive indicators. Promote involvement of self and staff in health promotion/educational community activities, lifelong learning and nursing research. Participate in development and evaluation of professional practice by participating on unit and/or hospital committees and through attendance at staff meetings. Actively participate in unit and/or hospital performance improvement activities. Deliver patient care and/or department service in a safe, competent, and efficient manner as determined by outcomes and quality monitors. Follow guidelines for infection prevention and patient safety goals and practices. Identify opportunities to control costs without compromising patient safety or quality of care. Ensure staff are educated on reporting significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes in patient care to improve safety. Address patient safety in the Performance Improvement Plan/Patient Safety Plan. Qualifications Education: BSN required; MSN/Master\u2019s Degree in related field or currently in progress preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Nurse in the state of Texas or compact license; National Specialty Certification or plan to achieve within 1 year of hire; BLS/ACLS required. Experience: Minimum 2 years in a nursing management position. Additional information Medical City Frisco is a 60+ bed acute care hospital.
