Southern Fabricators is looking for a Material Handler to support our production operations by safely moving, organizing, and delivering materials throughout the facility.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working as part of a team, and helping keep production running efficiently. The Material Handler plays an important role in making sure employees have the correct materials, parts, and supplies where they need them and when they need them.What You'll Be DoingSafely move raw materials, parts, components, and finished products throughout the manufacturing facilityDeliver materials to production work centers based on production needs and schedulesLoad, unload, stage, and organize materials in designated storage and production areasOperate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment safely and efficientlyOperate overhead cranes as required after completing company training and certificationAssist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and incoming material shipmentsVerify materials, quantities, part numbers, and locations before moving or delivering materialMaintain accurate material identification and help ensure materials are placed in the correct locationsSupport production employees by keeping work centers supplied with the materials needed to complete jobsMove completed parts and products to the appropriate next operation, staging area, or shipping locationAssist with organizing inventory and maintaining clean, orderly material storage areasIdentify damaged, incorrect, or questionable materials and report concerns to the appropriate supervisorPerform routine inspections of forklifts and material-handling equipment before useFollow established procedures for safely handling large, heavy, or irregularly shaped materialsMaintain clear aisles, work areas, and designated material locationsFollow all Southern Fabricators safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipmentCommunicate material shortages, incorrect materials, or production needs to supervisors and appropriate departmentsAssist Production, Shipping, Receiving, and other departments with material movement as neededPerform other duties as assigned based on production and business needsWhat We're Looking ForPrevious material handling, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or manufacturing experience preferredForklift experience preferred; ability to complete Southern Fabricators forklift training and certificationOverhead crane experience is a plus; willingness and ability to complete required crane trainingAbility to safely handle and move materials in an active manufacturing environmentAbility to read basic work orders, part numbers, labels, and material identification informationStrong attention to detail and ability to ensure materials are delivered to the correct locationAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsDependable attendance and a strong work ethicStrong safety awareness and willingness to follow established proceduresAbility to work independently while also supporting a team environmentGood communication and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize tasks as production needs change throughout the shiftComfortable working around welding, fabrication equipment, forklifts, cranes, and other manufacturing operationsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shiftAbility to regularly bend, reach, push, pull, and perform other physical activities required for material handlingAbility to lift and carry materials within company-established lifting requirementsAbility to safely climb on and off forklifts and other approved material-handling equipmentAbility to work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, heat, moving equipment, and changing temperaturesAbility to wear all required personal protective equipmentWhy You'll Want to Work HereAt Southern Fabricators, we value dependable employees who work together to keep our manufacturing operations moving.
