About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Acute Care for a 13-week contract opportunity in Utica, New York. The SLP will provide speech-language pathology services across inpatient hospital, acute rehabilitation, and outpatient settings based on patient-care needs.

The position requires flexibility to move across care settings and includes evaluation and treatment of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Bedside swallowing evaluations are required, while video fluoroscopic swallow study experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing impairments across acute care, rehabilitation, and outpatient settings.

• Perform bedside swallowing evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.

• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve communication, cognition, swallowing safety, and functional outcomes.

• Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as appropriate, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation professionals, and interdisciplinary teams while floating between assigned care settings based on patient volume.

Requirements

• Active New York State Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) License Required.

• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) Required.

• Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) Required.

• Current BLS Certification Required; Previous Travel Experience Required.

• Bedside Swallow Evaluation Experience Required; Inpatient Acute Care and Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Study Experience Preferred.

The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide skilled, flexible, and patient-centered therapy services while supporting safe swallowing, effective communication, and improved functional outcomes across the continuum of care.
