ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This position involves providing critical care in a high-acuity environment, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients while delivering exceptional nursing care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and fluid balance.
• Titrate and administer medications including vasoactive, sedative, heparin, and insulin as per protocols.
• Participate in the management of advanced care techniques including continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and therapeutic hypothermia.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Hospitalists and Intensivists, for optimal patient outcomes.
• Float to other critical care units as needed, adhering to the scope of practice.
• Engage in patient and family education to support care plans and discharge processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience required.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are mandatory.
• Experience with CRRT is preferred; candidates should possess cardiac skills.
• Ability to work a full-time schedule including nights and every other weekend.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills essential.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
• Number of Beds: 11
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:12
• Common Diagnoses: ARDS, Sepsis, Chronic ventilation, Alcohol withdrawal, DKA, CRRT, therapeutic hypothermia, IABP.

Work Environment

• Utilize advanced equipment such as ventilators (Drager, Hamilton) and CPAP/BiPAP.
• Participate in a self-scheduling system with four-week schedule availability.
• Report and handoff occurs at the bedside to enhance communication and continuity of care.
• The unit has 24/7 pharmacy support and access to RT services.

Additional Information

• Orientation includes 2 shifts in Medical ICU and additional exposure to Trauma, Neuro, and Surgical ICUs.
• Holiday work requirements include availability for at least two major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
