Job Description

The Business 

Technology Workflows is the largest business at ServiceNow – and its core. We build the products that run the technology estate— Service Management (Incident/Problem/Change), Operations Management (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, etc.), the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Asset Management, and Portfolio Management. Our customers use us to gain visibility of their technology estate, understand how it connects and performs, and act on it. 

As AI moves from helping people work to acting on systems directly, the accuracy and reach of that picture becomes the limit on everything built above it. That puts the Technology Workflows business at the center of the company’s agentic strategy. 

The Role 

This is a senior individual contributor role and the strategy partner to the SVP of Technology Workflows and the General Managers and Product Leaders of each business unit. You will not run a product line directly, nor will not have a team reporting directly to you. Your work and impact come through the ability to partner and influence. You will decide what this business should believe about where its market is going, be the key identifier of technological shifts and trends, and understand the current and future competitive landscape. You will synthesize your findings with evidence and turn it into artifacts that help set long-term roadmap direction, budget allocations, staffing decisions, pricing, partnerships, and acquisitions. You will interact with the ServiceNow Ventures team to help identify and assess sectors and individual companies for investment, with the Corporate Development team to create M&A chess boards and evaluate acquisition targets, and with the Corporate Strategy team to develop ServiceNow’s overall strategic posture. 

Key to this role is a understanding of both business and deep technical constructs. Technology Workflows is the most technical product group at ServiceNow and success in this role requires understanding how technical estates are run and the constantly changing stack used by practitioners. 

If you want a defined product area and a team to build it, this is the wrong role. If you want to set the direction of a business at this scale without the machinery of owning it, few seats give you this much reach. 

What you get to do in this role 

• Own and defend the multi-year strategic position for Technology Workflows, and keep it current as the AI landscape moves. Produce the written arguments and pre-reads that leadership actually decides from. 

• Set market sizing and category definition for the business, including where the current and future addressable market genuinely is rather than where the analyst taxonomy says it is. 

• Shape pricing and packaging strategy across the portfolio, including the shift of consumption-based products toward outcome-based models, in partnership with product managers, pricing, finance, and the platform packaging teams. 

• Own inorganic strategy for the business: source and evaluate acquisition, acquihire, and partnership candidates across the Technology Workflows portfolio. Form a technical point of view, convene product and engineering diligence, and hand corporate development and Technology Workflows leadership a recommendation with a thesis attached. 

• Build and maintain the partner and ecosystem framework—which partners matter, why, and how each one fits—across multiple categories such as observability, endpoint, operational technology, and systems integrator relationships. 

• Represent the business in executive and customer forums, including the CIO Product Advisory Council, the annual strategy cycle, and the twelve-month product roadmap review. Write the content, present it live, and carry the commitments it creates. 

• Maintain the competitive picture for AI-native technology operations and surface how our own products and packaging must evolve with how the market is being sold. 

• Partner across product leadership for service management, operations, configuration, asset management and portfolio management, plus Platform, AI, pricing, marketing, and analyst relations—with influence rather than authority. 

To be successful in this role you have 

 

• Strong analytical and presentation skills in deeply technical fields. An engineering degree with 10+ years of product leadership/product development experience and an MBA with 10+ years of business leadership and execution are assets. 

• 15+ years in enterprise software with a focus on technical IT or production operations – or direct experience running technical estates, with significant time spent operating at or alongside the executive table 

• Deep domain knowledge in how hardware and software is built, deployed, and run, and the tooling and tech stacks involved. You must be able to hold a technical conversation with a startup CTO and tell whether the architecture claim is real. You must be able to converse with customers and practitioners in their own vernacular and understand how they do their work and the ecosystem of tools they use to get it done. 

• Experience with development and ownership of a strategic position that changed what a business did—not a deck that circulated, a decision that moved. 

• Experience evaluating companies for acquisition, acquihire, or deep partnership, including forming an independent technical view and coordinating diligence across product and engineering. 

• Strong commercial instincts across pricing, packaging, and market sizing 

• Strong analytical skills and the willingness to challenge an analysis you were handed. 

• Exceptional written communication. This role persuades senior leaders in prose and in pre-reads, often before ever presenting live. 

• Executive presence with external audiences, including large enterprise CIOs and startup founders. You will be the most senior product voice in the room more often than not. 

• Comfort operating without a team. You build coalitions, borrow capacity, and get outcomes through people who do not report to you. 

• Experience integrating AI into work processes, strategic direction, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, reviewing AI-influenced insights, or examining how AI changes your function or industry. 

• A strong full-stack understanding of on-premise infrastructure, the public cloud, DevOps practices, how software is created/deployed/run, and the tooling and engineering practices along the way. 

 

Nice to have 

 

• Background spanning both the IT estate and the production/DevOps estate. 

• Prior experience at, a close partnership with, or deep experience using tools like observability, DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, Agentic platforms, and public cloud. 

• Venture, corporate development, or investment banking exposure alongside a product career.

or positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $291,500 - $495,600 , plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure.
