About the job Google’s software engineers develop the next‑generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Silicon Security Software team builds the foundation of trust for the mobile SoCs using Pixel devices. They are responsible for the end‑to‑end design and development of critical security components—from Secure Boot ROMs and cryptographic solutions to access control firmware. This role focuses on design and implementation of core features of the application boot ROM in low‑level embedded environments. In this role, you will design and implement core features of the application boot ROM within low‑level embedded/firmware environments. You will drive development and testing in pre‑silicon environments and perform validation to ensure hardware readiness. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver certifiable security solutions for Pixel products. The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $174,000–$252,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, and location. Responsibilities Develop embedded security solutions using secure coding practices. Collaborate with Silicon Engineering and other firmware teams to design and deliver integrated security solutions. Develop versatile low‑level drivers and modules as required per ROM software architecture specification. Implement and optimize solutions, including adding side‑channel protections, static analyzers, fuzzing infrastructure, and formal verification.
