Cashier Reception

Newton Nissan of Gallatin is looking for an experienced dependable and customer-focused Cashier / Receptionist to join our team. This is a fast-paced position that requires strong cash-handling skills excellent phone and customer service skills schedule flexibility and the ability to work well as part of a team.

We are looking for someone who brings a positive attitude to work each day takes pride in providing excellent customer service and is willing to assist wherever needed.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

• Promptly answer incoming calls using a multi-line phone system

• Professionally determine the reason for each call and transfer callers to the correct department or individual

• Take accurate and detailed messages when needed and communicate them promptly

• Page dealership employees for customers and incoming calls

• Provide callers with basic dealership information while maintaining a friendly and professional phone presence

• Greet customers and determine the nature of their visit

• Provide a friendly professional and welcoming experience for every guest

• Collect cash checks and credit card payments for repair orders and counter tickets

• Accurately process and document all customer payments

• Balance cash at the beginning and end of assigned shifts

• Reconcile payment discrepancies and maintain accurate transaction records

• Ensure checks are accepted in accordance with company policy

• Verify repair order and counter ticket totals against cash check and credit card payments

• Complete assigned opening and closing responsibilities

• Assist with filing scanning and organizing repair orders and dealership paperwork

• Prepare and maintain coffee customer snacks and supplies

• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of customer lounges and waiting areas

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace

• Provide coverage for both cashier and reception responsibilities

• Work cooperatively and respectfully with teammates and other dealership departments

• Assist with additional administrative and customer service duties as needed

Schedule & Availability

• Approximately 3540 hours per week

• Rotating shifts are required

• Cashier department hours: 6:45 AM6:00 PM

• Reception department hours: 8:00 AM7:00 PM

• Must be available to work opening mid and closing shifts based on department coverage

• Rotating Saturday availability is required

• Schedule flexibility is an important requirement of this position

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous cash-handling experience is required

• Must be comfortable and accurate handling money and balancing a cash drawer

• Must be comfortable answering a high volume of incoming calls

• Strong phone etiquette and ability to professionally communicate with customers

• Receptionist switchboard administrative or similar customer-facing experience preferred

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Friendly professional and customer-focused personality

• Must maintain a positive attitude and work well with teammates

• Must be dependable punctual and reliable

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to multitask and adjust priorities throughout the workday

• Experience using Microsoft Office

• Ability and willingness to learn dealership systems and procedures

• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

• Must be able to climb stairs and move throughout the dealership during the workday

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

The ideal candidate is reliable experienced trustworthy positive and team-oriented. This position is responsible for handling customer payments as well as answering incoming dealership calls making professionalism accuracy and communication extremely important.

Our Cashier / Receptionist team is often the first voice a customer hears and the first or last person they interact with at the dealership. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of creating a great customer experience both in person and over the phone.

This is a team environment. Candidates should be willing to help one another communicate respectfully stay productive during busy periods and step in wherever coverage is needed.
