Field Welder
Peterson Cat has a need for a Field Welder based at our San Leandro, CA location.
This position performs welding and line-boring processes for repair and custom fabrication projects at in the weld shop and at customer sites.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
- Travel to and from customer sites to perform maintenance and custom fabrication on equipment in the field.
- Operate welding and cutting equipment such as, Torch, Welder, Grinder, manual lathes, Vertical mills, Horizontal mills, Portable line boring, and Drill presses along with various other machine tools.
- Must be able to do prototype work to fabricate custom components and perform repair welds on components.
- Modify new and used equipment as directed.
- Write service reports that accurately document activities.
- Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
- Perform line boring operations in the weld shop and at customer sites.
- Perform assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
- Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
- Operate company or personal vehicle as needed
- Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications
Associates Degree from a fully accredited college in a related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in welding/fitting, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Commercial driver's license and current DOT Medical Certificate
The pay rate for this position is: $65.82. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.
