Water/Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from initial planning and design through construction, commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will manage projects involving water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, networks and associated civil, mechanical and electrical works. This role requires strong commercial, technical and stakeholder management skills, together with a proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.


Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining project programmes, budgets, risk registers and procurement strategies; coordinating design teams, contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers; and ensuring that project objectives, specifications and regulatory requirements are met. You will monitor progress, quality, costs and change control, prepare regular reports, manage contracts and resolve issues proactively. The role will also involve leading project meetings, maintaining effective communication with clients and stakeholders, supporting tender and bid activities, and ensuring that construction, testing and commissioning activities are properly planned and documented.


Applicants should have substantial experience managing water or wastewater infrastructure projects, ideally with a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management or a related discipline. Professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering or project management body would be advantageous. You will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of relevant health, safety, environmental and quality standards, as well as experience with contract administration and commercial management. Strong leadership, negotiation, organisation and problem-solving abilities are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A proactive approach, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a challenging project environment are key to success.
