2026-2027 CTE Teacher - Business Information Management (BIM) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills for successful functioning in society, and prepare them for post‑secondary readiness through CTE activities, first‑hand industry experiences, off‑campus internships, and IBC testing. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsement for subject and level (or approved alternative certification program) ESL certification (preferred) Successful background check (fingerprinting) Required to be trained to drive district non‑CDL vehicles; district provides safety training Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrated competency in the assigned academic subject area General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to research and develop teaching units Ability to instruct students and manage classroom behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills General knowledge of the industry related to assigned program of study Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience Major Responsibilities and Duties Professionalism The Educators' Code of Ethics, as set forth in the Texas Administrative Code, governs standard practices and ethical conduct toward students, colleagues, school officials, parents, and the community. Rule §247.1 Purpose and Scope; Definitions Rule §247.2 Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators Instructional Management Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation. Prepare lessons accommodating differing student learning styles. Present subject matter following federal regulations, the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that address diverse student needs. Collaborate with other teachers to modify curricula for students with special needs (Special Education, 504, Bilingual). Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods as per district requirements. Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Use technology to enhance the teaching/learning process. Implement all safety rules and procedures for the program of study. Student Growth and Development Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Prepare students for post‑secondary readiness in their chosen program of study. Provide internships, IBCs, job shadowing, field trips, and competitions. Classroom Management and Organization Improvement Create a classroom environment conducive to learning that supports the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook. Treat precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Communication and Community Relations Serve as a positive role model for students and support the district mission. Maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers, and support staff through conferences. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Foster relationships with community partners. Participate in and promote the CTE advisory board. Professional Growth and Development Participate in national and state organizations to stay current on research and best practices. Attend professional development opportunities related to the designated subject area. Read, synthesize, and disseminate research and information related to best practices from books, journals, listservs, websites, and other media. Attend meetings and participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills. Provide after‑hours support for student projects, competitions, professional development, and other CTE related activities. May need to be certified to administer IBCs (requires additional training and after‑hours participation). Qualities of Effective Teachers Daily attendance and punctuality are essential. Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies. Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees. Correct unsafe conditions and inform supervisors of non‑correctable issues. Comply with district, state, and federal laws, regulations, and Board policies. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain confidentiality. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise assigned teacher aides, volunteers, and student teachers. Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion. Equipment Computer, software, teacher resource materials, printer, scanner, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position. Must be able to operate program‑specific equipment, labs, and associated CTSO competitions. Working Conditions Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Work irregular and extended hours, including holidays and weekends. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carrying of textbooks and equipment. Might be required to provide physical restraint of students under certain circumstances. Occasional district‑wide and statewide travel. Use technology and lab equipment for prolonged periods, causing repetitive hand motion. Frequent exposure to temperature extremes, humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, and vibration. Occasional exposure to biological hazards; work outside, on uneven surfaces, around moving objects or vehicles. May support students on‑site during off‑campus activities, including after‑hours. May be asked to drive students to CTE activities.
