Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical unit is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to patients with varying acuities across all age groups. This role involves evaluating the nursing process, documenting findings in the electronic medical record, directing patient care activities, collaborating with ancillary staff, and communicating effectively with providers and co-workers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position requires at least two years of experience and expertise in clinical nursing practices within a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to medical/surgical patients across the age spectrum.
- Evaluate and document the nursing process and patient status in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Direct and coordinate patient care activities and collaborate with ancillary staff.
- Communicate patient conditions and care plans effectively with healthcare providers and team members.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to treatment planning.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
- Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Driver's license, car insurance, and reliable automobile for fieldwork if required.
- Experience specifically in Medical/Surgical nursing.
- Additional certifications relevant to medical/surgical nursing practice.
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Must be able to collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams.
- Work environment includes a medical/surgical hospital unit with variable patient acuities.
- May require flexibility for shift assignments and occasional on-call duties.
- Day shift position in the Medical/Surgical unit.
- Shift schedules are assigned based on departmental needs and staffing requirements.
