Job Description

We are seeking a skilled MedSurg Registered Nurse for an MS/Onc unit. This role focuses on providing specialized nursing care primarily to medical-surgical patients with an oncology history. Applicants must be capable of administering chemotherapy and managing various patient care duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with MedSurg and Oncology diagnoses.
• Administer chemotherapy, medications, blood products, and perform blood draws.
• Manage surgical drains, chest tubes, and provide wound care including the use of wound vacs.
• Utilize isolation precautions and administer oxygen as needed.
• Conduct thorough assessments and maintain detailed documentation in the electronic health record (Epic).
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and provide patient education.
• Participate in the management of patients with various complicated medical conditions, including but not limited to AKI, sepsis, and diabetic foot ulcers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of MedSurg nursing experience; 1st time travelers accepted.
• Current RN license (NC or Compact) required.
• BLS certification required; Oncology certification preferred.
• Experience in colostomy care, port accessing, and peripheral line management.
• Ability to administer chemotherapy and manage PICC lines if required.

Patient Diagnoses

Primary patient population includes general medical-surgical diagnoses with chemotherapy/biotherapy administration such as:

• AKI
• Sepsis
• Cancer and malignant neoplasms
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Septic shock
