Job Description
Support students in a vibrant elementary setting utilizing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. This rewarding contract opportunity is available for an immediate start and extends through late May 2027. Make a daily impact on young learners while collaborating on-site within an inclusive educational environment.
Requirements:
EIPA score of 3.0 or above (proof required)
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational interpreting practices
Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
Professional demeanor, reliability, and strong communication skills
Ability to remain committed to full-time hours (7:45 AM – 3:15 PM)
Availability for on-site engagement; remote or hybrid work is not available for this position
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for elementary students and staff during classroom instruction, activities, and meetings
Foster an inclusive classroom environment by accurately and confidentially conveying communication
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student learning objectives
Maintain professionalism, adhere to ethical standards, and respect confidentiality at all times
Monitor student comprehension and adjust interpreting approach as needed to enhance understanding
Participate in professional development opportunities as required by the assignment
