Business Development ManagerBMS is seeking a relationship-driven sales professional to support growth across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.This role is focused on developing and strengthening relationships with prospective and existing customers, creating long-term opportunities through consistent engagement, presenting tailored solutions and achieving sales goals.This role demands excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, along with a relationship mindset.Our sales cycle is relationship-based and can be extensive. Success in this role comes from trust, credibility, and maintaining a strong presence in the markets we serve.What You'll DoIdentify potential customers through networking, research, referrals or inquiries and build/maintain relationships with prospects and existing customersEngage consistently through outreach, follow-up, and in-person interactionDevelop a strong understanding of customer needs and challenges and present products/services to meet those needs – highlighting key benefits and valuePosition BMS as a trusted, long-term partnerTerritory Engagement & TravelPresent a professional and friendly demeanor that properly reflects BMS as you travel regularly throughout North Carolina, and South Carolina, with additional visits in Virginia as needed.Visit customer locations and maintain a consistent presence in key markets – scheduling calls and visits using the CRM for tracking of all touchpoints.Represent BMS in meetings, site visits, and day-to-day interactionsConference & Event EngagementIdentify, attend, and actively participate in industry conferences and association eventsResearch and provide new conference positioning to the team for reviewBuild relationships with decision-makers in municipal and related sectorsLeverage events to generate new opportunities and strengthen existing relationshipsCoordinate with internal teams to maximize BMS's presence and follow-up - using the CRM.Pipeline & CRM ManagementManage and maintain an active pipeline in CRM (Monday.com)Includes posting all leads generated within a specified timeframe as well as noting all types of communications with the prospective customerTrack interactions, updates, and next steps across opportunitiesEnsure visibility into pipeline activity and progressionSupport movement of opportunities from early engagement through qualificationCollaboration & Internal AlignmentWork closely with internal teams to align on opportunitiesShare insights from the field to inform strategy and positioningSupport transition of opportunities into proposal and execution phasesWhat You BringStrong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.Ability to build trust and develop relationships.Ability to practice effective listening skills and utilize them to compile/prepare reports based on discoveries from meetings.Driven to achieve sales targets and thrive in a competitive environment. Self-motivated with a consistent and disciplined approachTechnical Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Keyboarding, as well as familiarity with CRM Systems and sales tools.
