Technical Accounting Consultant

Our client, an innovative organization operating across multiple business segments, is looking for a Technical Accounting Consultant. This role will provide senior-level technical accounting leadership, financial reporting expertise, and strategic guidance across a complex, multi-entity organization.

Location: Bellevue, WA (Onsite 3-4 days per-week)
Duration: 12 Months
Compensation: $69 - $115 per hour.
Additional Compensation : This position is not eligible for bonus or incentive compensation.

Summary:

The Technical Accounting Consultant will serve as a senior finance leader responsible for providing technical accounting guidance, overseeing financial reporting activities, and supporting accounting operations across multiple business units. This role will ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, maintain accounting policies and internal controls, and support complex accounting matters including consolidations, revenue recognition, leases, and financial disclosures.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide primary support for technical accounting matters, including preparation of technical accounting memos and white papers.
• Research and evaluate complex accounting transactions to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
• Serve as the organization's technical accounting subject matter expert and advisor on complex accounting issues.
• Develop, implement, and maintain technical accounting policies and financial reporting processes.
• Provide training and ongoing accounting guidance to finance and accounting teams.
• Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosures to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with Operations, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other business partners to support accurate financial reporting.
• Communicate complex accounting and financial matters to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements and assess impacts to the organization.
• Ensure significant accounting matters are appropriately evaluated and documented as part of the financial reporting process.
• Prepare and present financial reporting packages to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and automation within accounting and reporting functions.
• Coordinate external audits, prepare supporting documentation, and serve as the primary contact for complex accounting matters.
• Support special projects including financial reporting automation, due diligence, SOX testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA certification.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience within a Big 4 accounting firm and publicly traded companies.
• Experience in a leadership role overseeing accounting operations within a multi-business segment organization.
• Experience managing complex global consolidations, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting across multiple entities or business units.
• Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, and financial reporting tools.
• Strong technical accounting expertise in ASC 730 (R&D), ASC 360 (Property, Plant & Equipment), ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), ASC 842 (Leases), and other complex accounting standards.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting SEC reporting, MD&A preparation, and financial disclosures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

• Experience supporting high-growth, complex, or highly regulated organizations.
• Experience developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Background supporting external audits, technical accounting research, and SEC reporting initiatives.
• Experience partnering with executive leadership on strategic accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Experience leading accounting automation, process improvement, or transformation initiatives.
