CNC Press Brake Operator Precision Metal Fabrication Department

Position Summary

L’Atelier Paris is seeking an experienced CNC Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC press brake equipment to produce precision stainless steel components used in our luxury cooking ranges, ventilation systems, and custom kitchens.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, understands precision fabrication, and has extensive experience with DALEM CNC software , CNC programming, blueprint interpretation, tooling selection, and precision forming of stainless steel components.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an individual capable of independently programming, troubleshooting, and producing first-piece quality without supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

• Program CNC press brakes using DALEM software .
• Create, modify, and optimize bending programs.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication prints, CAD drawings, and work orders.
• Determine proper bend sequence to minimize distortion and maximize efficiency.
• Select appropriate punches, dies, tooling, and machine parameters.
• Set up machines for first article production.
• Produce parts within specified tolerances.
• Verify bend angles, dimensions, and finished part accuracy.
• Make program adjustments to compensate for material variation or spring-back.
• Operate CNC press brake safely and efficiently.
• Perform first-piece inspection before production.
• Monitor production quality throughout manufacturing.
• Maintain production documentation.
• Label completed parts correctly.
• Work with stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel.
• Handle cosmetic stainless steel components carefully to prevent scratches or damage.
• Ensure all formed parts are clean, accurate, and ready for the next manufacturing process.
• Communicate production issues to supervisors promptly.
• Assist engineering with manufacturability improvements when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
• Follow all company safety procedures.
• Meet daily production schedules while maintaining exceptional quality.

CNC Programming Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be capable of:

• Programming directly at the machine using DALEM Touch Screen Control .
• Creating new programs from engineering drawings.
• Editing existing programs.
• Saving and organizing part programs.
• Optimizing bend sequences.
• Setting back gauges.
• Programming bend allowances.
• Programming bend deductions.
• Adjusting ram depth.
• Configuring material thickness.
• Selecting tooling within the control software.
• Troubleshooting programming errors.
• Running simulation before production.
• Optimizing cycle times without sacrificing quality.

Machine Setup Responsibilities

The operator must be able to:

• Install upper and lower tooling.
• Align tooling correctly.
• Verify tonnage requirements.
• Set back gauges.
• Set machine zero points.
• Verify machine calibration.
• Check hydraulic operation.
• Confirm material orientation.
• Perform dry-run verification before production.
• Produce an approved first article.

The operator is responsible for inspecting his or her own work before releasing parts to the next operation.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience operating CNC press brakes.
• Minimum 3 years programming CNC press brakes.
• Experience with DALEM software is required .
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication.
• Ability to read complex fabrication drawings.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Excellent spatial reasoning.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience manufacturing luxury products.
• Experience with custom fabrication.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
• Knowledge of 5S workplace organization.
• Forklift certification (preferred).
• Overhead crane experience (preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and walking.
• Manual dexterity for tooling changes and measurements.
• Ability to safely handle sheet metal.
• Ability to wear required PPE throughout the workday.
