Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City is seeking an experienced Revenue Cycle Coordinator to join our growing behavioral health practice. This role is critical to ensuring our patients receive uninterrupted access to care by helping maximize insurance reimbursement, reduce claim denials, and improve the overall efficiency of our revenue cycle.

About the Role

The Revenue Cycle Coordinator is responsible for researching, resolving, and preventing insurance claim denials while working collaboratively with providers, insurance carriers, patients, and our electronic health record vendor. This position plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of the practice by ensuring claims are processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.

This position reports directly to the Operations Director.

What You'll Do

• Investigate and resolve insurance claim denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies.
• Work assigned denial queues, claim edit worklists, payer rejection reports, and other revenue cycle work queues.
• Submit corrected claims, appeals, reconsiderations, and supporting documentation.
• Communicate professionally with patients regarding insurance-related billing questions when needed.
• Analyze denial trends and recommend process improvements that reduce future denials.
• Stay current on payer policies, coding updates, and industry regulations.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of revenue cycle, medical billing, insurance claims, or medical office experience in a multi-provider physician practice.
• Strong understanding of:
• • Medical billing and insurance claim processing
  • Revenue cycle operations
  • Commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care
  • Medical terminology
  • CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding principles
  • HIPAA regulations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using NextGen Practice Management and EHR .
• Behavioral health or specialty practice experience.
• Experience with payer appeals, denial management, and revenue cycle analytics.
