Planned Giving Officer

Overview Shared Services: Philanthropy Planned Giving (Full-Time, Day Shift). The Planned Giving Officer is responsible for operating a comprehensive planned giving program which results in funds raised through the cultivation and closing of outright, irrevocable and revocable deferred gifts. Responsible for developing and monitoring a personal portfolio of planned giving prospects and securing planned gifts from alumni, grateful patients and friends of Loma Linda. Performs other duties as needed. Responsibilities Operate a comprehensive planned giving program to raise funds through cultivation and closing of planned gifts. Develop and monitor a personal portfolio of planned giving prospects. Secure planned gifts from alumni, grateful patients and friends of Loma Linda. Perform other duties as needed. Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Business, Philanthropy or a related field required. Master of Business Administration Degree preferred. Minimum five years experience in charitable fundraising, marketing, finance, financial planning, sales or other related field required, preferably in healthcare or higher education. Experience in charitable estate planning preferred. Knowledge and Skills Proficiency in Crescendo planned giving software and Raiser’s Edge fundraising software preferred. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Sound judgment and capacity for short and long-range planning. Ability to present information effectively one-on-one or in a group setting; may be required to make public presentations. Proficient reading, writing and speaking; competent with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; basic office equipment operation. Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies. Calm under pressure; able to lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Effective communication in English (in person, writing, telephone); critical thinking; ability to work independently. Mathematical proficiency: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using common measures; understand rates, ratios and percentages. Problem solving; organize and prioritize workload; attention to detail. Color vision as necessary; hearing and vision adequate for workplace needs. Licenses and Certifications NAD Planned Giving & Trust Administration Certification required within one year of hire date. Certified Specialist in Planned Giving certification preferred.
