The University does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, or University System of Georgia policy.JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for providing technical (hardware and software) support to the entire university community.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Answers the IT technical support phone line and creates work orders for users.Works with users to resolve specific issues such as logging into a computer/network, resetting passwords, etc.Responds to basic application support questions, and general questions from users.Checks hardware in/out that is on loan to users; logs information into inventory tracking system.Creates documentation for end user to aid in user support.Performs related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONKnowledge of university policies and procedures.Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment installation.General knowledge of information technology for classroom use.General knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems.Skill with Microsoft Office for Windows and Apple.Skill in decision making and problem solving.Skill in oral and written communication.Skill in customer service.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma.One year of related experience required.Customer Service attitude and experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCertifications such as A+, Net+ Formalized Helpdesk TrainingCOMPLEXITY AND SCOPE OF WORKThe work consists of varied technical duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to provide Tier I technical support for the university campus and off-site locations.PHYSICIAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.The work is typically performed in an office.
