Ensure the safety of guests, staff, and assets during public and private events. Focus on crowd management, access control, and situational awareness to maintain a secure and welcoming environment.

The role of Events Security Officer at the Museum encompasses responsibilities that align with the museum's core values of Respect, Openness, Growth, and Dynamism, with a focus on event specific security and visitor service.

Be strategically positioned throughout the venue to observe crowds, identify suspicious behavior, and respond quickly to incidents. Maintain vigilance and situational awareness to ensure the safety and security of visitors and staff during events.

Respond promptly and courteously to visitor and staff needs, maintaining confidentiality when required. Demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions to uphold the Museum's values.

Show continuous improvement in knowledge of the Museum's security and safety program. Apply new skills and training to enhance effectiveness in event security operations.

Provide physical security throughout the building during special events, monitor the flow of people in and out of public spaces, and inspect the facility to identify and report potential sources of security, injury, or health hazards. Use two-way radios to communicate effectively with staff and perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating energy, adaptability, and responsiveness in dynamic event environments.

Maintain high quality interactions with visitors, offering informative and engaging conversations that contribute to a welcoming atmosphere during events.

Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure a positive visitor experience. Consistently uphold service standards and contribute to the Museum's reputation for excellence during public and private events.

Monitor event spaces, entrances, and crowds for safety. Conduct bag checks, verify credentials, and control access. Respond to emergencies and disturbances using de-escalation skills. Assist with crowd flow and visitor service during events. Safeguard Museum property and assets through patrols and security checks. Collaborate with staff and local police/fire as needed.

High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ year of security experience (or equivalent). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to enforce policies professionally and assist visitors courteously. Basic computer proficiency; flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Event or crowd management security experience. Proactive team player with situational awareness in dynamic settings. Adaptable, enthusiastic, and passionate about the Museum's mission.

Must comply with uniform standards. Work indoors/outdoors in all seasons; exposure to noise up to 85 decibels. Stand/walk for long periods (up to 12-hour shifts); lift up to 50 lbs. Flexibility required for event schedules and staffing needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
