Title: Welder Location: South Windsor, Connecticut Shift: 1st (6am to 2:30pm, M-F) Salary: $30-34/hr Welder Responsibilities: Pipe welding and fitting, GTAW (Tig) and GMAW (Mig) Materials including steels, stainless steels, and aluminum Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on job orders Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety About You: Drawing reading capability including dimensional and welding symbols Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16” Familiarity with band saws, cutoff wheels, grinders, and weld prep tooling. Own standard hand tools. 2-3 years work experience or equivalent school experience in welding profession. Good understanding of inspection methods and techniques Must be able to read/interpret blue prints and have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Fork lift operating experience. Good oral and written communication skills. Some heavy lifting required.
