You start with a safety check, then roll a car onto the track to inspect—brakes, couplers, wheels. A hairline crack found during a routine lookover turns into a precise welding job, followed by mechanical adjustments that bring the system back to spec. You collaborate with teammates to troubleshoot a stubborn alignment issue, document the repair, and mentor a junior mechanic on reading a schematic. Before the day wraps, you complete scheduled maintenance and ensure all work logs are accurate and up to date.

• Execute professional welding and fabrication on railcars to meet safety and quality standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical components, including brakes, couplers, and wheel assemblies.
• Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to keep railcars operating at peak performance.
• Work closely with a collaborative team to solve technical challenges.
• Record all maintenance and repair activities with precision.
• Follow facility safety protocols and regulatory requirements at all times.
• Share knowledge by assisting in training and mentoring junior mechanics.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in welding or mechanics is preferred.
• Hands-on experience as a welder and mechanic, ideally in rail or industrial environments.
• Solid command of welding processes and core mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Sharp problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail.
• Comfort working independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
