Travel Registered Nurse Acute Care Job

Overview Registered Nurse – Acute Care with Emergency Department responsibilities in a hospital setting located in Penn Yan, New York. Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department across pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, using established nursing procedures and protocols.
• Conduct triage and initial primary assessment, assign priorities according to established triage standards, and perform comprehensive secondary assessments as patient conditions evolve.
• Administer medications and therapies, monitor patient responses, manage intravenous lines, airway devices, and other non-invasive or invasive treatments as clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans, coordinate diagnostic procedures, and prepare patients for treatment or discharge.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and home care plans; address questions and provide clear discharge instructions; assess learning needs and preferences.
• Maintain infection prevention best practices, ensure patient safety, document care accurately, update communication boards, and coordinate referrals for follow-up care or post-acute services.

Requirements

• Current New York State RN license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only) required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience in an acute care setting
• NIHSS knowledge or certification preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and participate in rotating shifts
• Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining patient and family-centered communication
