Senior Production Underwriter - Pennsylvania

Job Description:

The Senior Production Underwriter will be responsible for attracting and underwriting middle market business, and deploying effective account management while fostering strong working relationships with agency partners. This role executes underwriting strategy to achieve profit and premium plans. The Senior Production Underwriter will handle a renewal book in their territory as assigned. While this is a remote work opportunity, the ideal candidate should reside in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:

• Profitably underwrite complex new and renewal business through risk selection, pricing, contractual integrity and account management, in accordance with delegated authority and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Through effective portfolio management skills, achieve profit and premium plans for prescribed business unit strategies.

• Achieve production goals within assigned territory by marketing, prospecting and developing a strong pipeline of new business opportunities, and developing and maintaining successful relationships with producers and agencies.

• Collaborate with business unit and line of business underwriting, sales and distribution, underwriting center, underwriting support, risk control, legal, claims, and other internal partners to ensure optimal stakeholder management.

• Complete agency reviews, capturing appropriate intel around market opportunities. Provide feedback to management on the current state of the marketplace, agencies and competition.
• Mentor and train team members, acting as a resource for the team to answer questions, resolve escalated issues and provide guidance.
• Support and participate in the deployment of technical underwriting training/content.

Requirements:

• Four-year college degree (preferred)
• Completion of or working towards AU, CIC and/or CPCU designations (preferred)
• 5+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
• Advanced risk evaluation skills and insurance contract knowledge
• Capability to execute current underwriting strategy for assigned territory to make effective underwriting decisions
• Excellent customer service skills
• Advanced communication and negotiation skills
• Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and effective dates
• Advanced knowledge of agency force and current market environment
• Excellent sales skills, with proven track record of growing a profitable book of business

Pay Range:

The anticipated salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 annually. We understand salary is an important factor in a job search, and we encourage you to apply even if you feel that your desired compensation may fall outside of the listed range. The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
