Job Summary

Position Overview
The University of Texas at Dallas seeks an accomplished, visionary, and analytically sophisticated leader to serve as its next Vice President for Enrollment Strategy (VPES). Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Vice President serves as the University’s chief architect of enrollment strategy, responsible for aligning enrollment decisions with the University’s academic aspirations, research trajectory, student success goals, institutional reputation, and long-term financial sustainability.

At one of the nation’s fastest-rising public research universities, enrollment strategy is more than an operational function—it is a strategic imperative. As one of the University’s principal strategic leaders, the Vice President will help shape institutional strategy by bringing deep expertise regarding enrollment markets, demographic trends, workforce needs, academic capacity, and the evolving higher education landscape. Working collaboratively across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Finance, Strategic Initiatives, Institutional Intelligence, University Communications, Global Engagement, and the academic schools, the Vice President will lead a comprehensive Strategic Enrollment Management enterprise that intentionally shapes the size, composition, quality, and success of the University’s student body while advancing academic excellence, research distinction, innovation, and public impact.

The Vice President provides executive leadership for Undergraduate Admissions and Enrollment Management, the Office of the Registrar, and Financial Aid while cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, transparency, evidence-informed decision making, continuous improvement, and institutional stewardship.

Leadership Competencies

The Vice President for Enrollment Strategy will be a strategic and visionary leader who inspires innovation while building collaborative partnerships across the institution. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical and data-informed decision-making, a steadfast commitment to academic excellence and student success, and the ability to lead complex initiatives with integrity, sound judgment, and responsible stewardship. This executive will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Note to Applicants: Please review the special instructions outlined below and ensure all requirements are met prior to submitting your application.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree
  • 10-years’ of distinguished executive leadership experience in strategic enrollment management, enrollment strategy, academic administration, student success, or institutional planning within a complex public research university.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution. Executive leadership experience at a Carnegie R1 university.
  • Experience aligning enrollment strategy with academic portfolio planning and research growth.
  • Experience with graduate, online, professional, international, and lifelong learning enrollment.
  • Experience leading CRM and enrollment technology initiatives.
  • Experience presenting to governing boards and executive leadership.

Other Qualifications

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

  • Establish measurable enrollment objectives, governance structures, and accountability measures that align institutional planning across academic and administrative units.
  • Develop enrollment policies that intentionally shape the University’s future student population in response to demographic, economic, workforce, educational, and geopolitical trends.

Align Enrollment with Academic Excellence

  • Provide strategic guidance regarding program demand, academic capacity, faculty resources, emerging disciplines, new program development, portfolio optimization, and institutional investments.
  • Collaborate with faculty leadership to establish graduate enrollment goals while respecting faculty authority over admissions standards, curriculum, and academic quality.

  • Continuously evaluate the changing higher education marketplace, student preferences, workforce needs, public policy, and competitive positioning to inform institutional strategy.
  • Develop executive dashboards, enrollment forecasts, scenario analyses, and key performance indicators that support executive leadership and governing board decision making.

  • Represent the University before governing boards, governmental agencies, professional organizations, and external partners.
  • Exercise sound institutional judgment by ensuring enrollment decisions reflect the University’s academic mission, research aspirations, public purpose, financial sustainability, and commitment to student success rather than short-term optimization alone.

Leadership of the Enrollment Enterprise
