Senior Data Architect - Hybrid

( National Interstate is looking for a Data Engineer to join their team.

This individual will either work hybrid from the Richfield, OH office 3 days per week.

To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site a minimum of three days a week, with the potential to work two days remotely. Core in-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but will be determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Defines and governs the enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical models, data flows, and integration strategies that support business objectives.
• Leads the design and governance of data integration solutions and oversees the optimization of databases, data warehouses, and analytical environments to ensure performance, scalability, and resilience.
• Establishes and enforces enterprise standards for data modeling, metadata, and governance, including policies and controls to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Conducts analysis to define requirements for data acquisition, access, and usage, enabling informed, data-driven decisions.
• Leads the development and of data governance policies and controls, ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates and recommends emerging data technologies and practices to enhance architecture and analytics capabilities.
• Oversees the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for data architecture, standards, and governance processes.
• Collaborates with senior stakeholders across business and technology teams, influencing strategic initiatives and ensuring data architecture supports enterprise priorities.
• Provides thought leadership through workshops, advisory sessions, and guidance on enterprise data architecture and strategy.
• May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Prefer: Informatica Cloud, Snowflake, ODS, ETO experience.
• Experience: Generally, a minimum of 14 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or a related field.
• Completion of or continuing progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty.

• Demonstrated proficiency in data modeling, database design, SQL, ETL processes, and data integration tools.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Solves highly technical and complex problems based on multiple projects and provides consultative support to internal staff.
• Works on multiple projects as a project leader or a subject matter expert.
• Demonstrates the ability to analyze complex data requirements and design effective data solutions.
• Meticulous in ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Works on projects/issues of moderate to high complexity that requires in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.
• Performs work under limited supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Ability to lead data architecture initiatives and mentor junior team members.
• Recognized as a subject matter expert across the organization.
