Health Unit Coordinator - Coronary ICU

The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides exceptional customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff while supporting a positive patient experience in a fast‑paced clinical environment. This role performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow within the department. The HUC supports the Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU), a 24‑bed critical care unit specializing in the treatment of patients experiencing complex and life‑threatening cardiac conditions. A caregiver in this position works day shift, from 7:00 am – 7:30 pm and 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Rotating weekends and holidays is required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Conduct an in‑person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. Respond to patient call lights and make rounds. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Assist with unit clerical functions and troubleshoot equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High school diploma or GED 1 year of experience in a customer service‑related role Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: College degree Microsoft Office experience Physical Requirements Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $18.25 Maximum hourly: $24.95 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
