About the Community – Kayenta, Arizona Kayenta is a U.S. census-designated place which is part of the Navajo Nation and is in Navajo County, Arizona. Kayenta is located 25 miles south of Monument Valley and contains a number of hotels and motels which service visitors to Monument Valley. Prepare to be mesmerized by the dramatic landscapes of the Colorado Plateau when visiting Kayenta, the gateway to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in northeastern Arizona. Located roughly 30 miles south of Monument Valley, Kayenta is the nearest town to the park and pure wilderness. Get your bearings at the Navajo Welcome Center just across the border in Utah off of AZ-163, where you can catch your first peek of the two famous buttes, Mitten and Merrick, though, at this distance, it's like to just be their tops. Visit the Navajo Arts and Crafts Enterprise to peruse the wares of the tribe, whose silversmiths, potters and weavers have persevered traditional methods in their artwork. About the Facility – Kayenta Client The Kayenta Service Unit population of 20,000 is spread across a remote and sparsely populated area. Kayenta is in a traditional part of the reservation. Services are provided to 200 patients each day in continuity or walk-in clinics and in a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week emergency room. The clinic is on site lab, x-ray and pharmacy services. The current medical staff is made up of Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Psychiatry specialties.

Responsibilities

• Triage, make appropriate referrals to Departments within the facility such as: Walk in Clinic, Eye Clinic, Dental, Diabetes Educator, Nutrition, JVN, Case Management and Mental Health.
• Provide adequate care to any patient that presents to facility seeking treatment, understanding that any type of patient may present for care.
• Follows Kayent IHS policy and procedures.
• Interacts in a professional manner with patients and coworkers.
• Will receive reports from EMS over radio or phone.
• Take assigned ambulance patients as needed.
• Takes supervision from Lead Clinical nurse, acting LCN and other staff as needed.
• Assumes roll of Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Comes to work with a positive attitude and provides feedback in a professional matter.
• Will participate in Department and service unit performan and quality improvement projects.
• Will take late nurse duties per nursing schedule or as needed Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• Must have completed courses for nursing (ASN, BSN) from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
• A minimum of one year recent Outpatient/Emergency Department experience.
• Must have BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or equivalent that may be approved by the Supervisory Clinical Nurse certification.
• Must provide current proof of immunizations.
