Forward Deployed Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Software Engineer based in the United States. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you will work at the intersection of software architecture, product development, and customer collaboration to solve complex technical challenges. You will partner directly with strategic customers to design and implement scalable solutions while contributing to the evolution of a core SaaS platform. Combining hands-on full-stack engineering with technical consulting, you will turn customer needs into reliable, reusable product capabilities. You will work across frontend, backend, integrations, and infrastructure, ensuring performance, maintainability, and scalability. This role offers the opportunity to influence product direction, modernize commercial insurance workflows through AI, and help establish engineering best practices in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. \n Accountabilities You will take ownership of customer-facing technical initiatives while ensuring that the solutions developed contribute to the long-term strength of the core platform. Your responsibilities will include:

* Lead the design, development, and implementation of new features for the core SaaS platform, prioritizing reusable capabilities over customer-specific solutions. * Work across the full technology stack, from database query optimization and API development to building intuitive user interfaces. * Design and deliver production-ready integrations and workflows that address complex customer requirements. * Lead technical workshops with customer stakeholders to understand business needs and define future-state architecture and solutions. * Write high-quality, type-safe, maintainable code using TypeScript and modern React and Next.js development patterns. * Identify recurring customer challenges and translate them into scalable product features in collaboration with product and engineering teams. * Prevent unnecessary customization by recognizing common requirements and incorporating them into the platform's core technical direction. * Contribute to continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), testing, and performance monitoring to maintain reliable and stable releases. * Take end-to-end ownership of deployments, proactively identifying technical bottlenecks and resolving issues. * Collaborate with customers as a technical partner while remaining accountable for delivery and implementation outcomes. * Mentor engineering teammates and promote best practices that improve code quality, collaboration, and overall team performance.

Requirements The ideal candidate is an experienced full-stack or frontend engineer who combines strong technical execution with architectural thinking and customer-facing communication skills. You should be comfortable working independently, navigating complex business requirements, and building solutions that can scale across multiple customers. Candidates should demonstrate:

* At least 7 years of professional experience in full-stack or frontend software development, preferably within SaaS products or startup environments. * Strong programming skills in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, or a comparable language. * Hands-on experience with the Next.js App Router, including server components, layouts, streaming, and caching. * Experience with tRPC or equivalent type-safe API frameworks. * Proficiency in building complex, data-intensive interfaces using Tailwind CSS and component libraries such as shadcn/ui or Mantine. * A background in UI/UX design or experience collaborating closely with designers is highly preferred. * Strong understanding of scalable system architecture, frontend performance optimization, state management, and accessibility. * The ability to design solutions with long-term scalability and reuse in mind, anticipating how customer-specific needs can benefit the wider product. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, lead discussions, and act as a trusted customer partner. * A high degree of autonomy, initiative, and ownership, including the ability to identify problems and deliver solutions without waiting for detailed instructions. * Familiarity with commercial insurance and underwriting operations, ideally gained through experience in insurtech or working with insurance carriers, managing general agents (MGAs), or brokers. * Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations up to 20% of the time, as needed.

Benefits

* Remote work opportunities. * Flexible paid time off. * Company-paid holidays. * Medical, dental, and vision insurance. * Short-term and long-term disability coverage. * Life insurance and accident coverage. * 401(k) retirement plan. * Paid parental leave. * Flexible work culture that supports work-life balance. * A collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment with opportunities to contribute across departments. * Opportunities for professional development, career growth, and continuous learning.
