Piano Technician I
The School of Music is looking for a Piano Technician to join us who will be responsible for maintaining and tuning the School's piano inventory under the supervision of the department head. Main duties include:
- Weekly maintenance of assigned classroom pianos including tuning, voicing, and action adjustments.
- Regular maintenance of practice room pianos including tuning, voicing, and action adjustments.
- Schedule tuning and maintenance of teaching studio pianos as directed by the department head.
- Maintenance of artist benches, string replacements, case repairs, action parts replacement, etc.
- Schedule action parts replacement and subsequent regulation and hammer voicing to provide the highest level of musical performance possible.
- Recording all work performed in inventory database.

Duties & Responsibilities - Weekly maintenance of assigned classroom pianos including tuning, voicing, and regulation. Schedule tuning and maintenance of teaching studio pianos as directed by the department head. Includes voicing and regulation. Regular maintenance of practice room pianos including tuning, voicing, and regulation. Maintenance hammer filing and voicing, action repair and regulation as needed. Misc, repairs such as string replacement, case repair, artist bench maintenance, etc. Schedule action parts replacement and subsequent regulation and hammer voicing to provide the highest level of musical performance possible. Record all work performed in inventory database.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Basic knowledge of tuning, and minor action regulation necessary. Physical requirements: position involves sitting or standing in various ways to effectively work on the instruments. Lifting up to 50lbs independently and on occasion moving/transporting +100lbs with a partner or team (moving instruments around the building)
Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
Preferred Qualifications - 1-2 years of tuning experience.
