The intern will work directly with the Head of Archives & Special Collections to transcribe and digitally preserve a historical manuscript by Levi L. Conant, a prominent WPI mathematics professor from the late 1890s. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in archival practice, digital preservation, and exhibit curation.JOB DESCRIPTIONKey ResponsibilitiesTranscribe Levi L. Conant's Lectures on Differential Equations into LaTeX using the Overleaf applicationPlan and build a digital exhibit featuring the digitized manuscript and LaTeX transcription using the Spotlight applicationPlan an accompanying physical exhibit (sized to fit a rolling exhibit case) to engage the WPI community with the projectQualificationsUndergraduate student planning to study archives, or a graduate student currently studying archivesFoundational knowledge of archival principlesComfort with or interest in learning LaTeX and OverleafStrong attention to detail and self-directionHourly Rate: $17.50/hourFLSA STATUSUnited States of America (Non-Exempt)WPI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
