Description

PASE is looking for an experienced veterinary technician to join our Anesthesia team, supporting our Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Ophthalmology services. As Anesthesia Technician, you will be responsible for the safe induction, monitoring, and recovery of patients undergoing a wide range of specialty procedures, working directly alongside a board-certified anesthesiologist and an Anesthesia VTS.

This is a hands-on clinical role for a technician who wants to build deep expertise in anesthesia across a broad and complex caseload, from routine specialty procedures to advanced neurosurgical and high-risk cases. You will work in a team structure with strong specialist mentorship, in an environment that values precision, communication, and continued learning.

What you will do:

  • Prepare, induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia for Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Ophthalmology procedures
  • Develop and adjust patient-specific anesthesia protocols in collaboration with the boarded anesthesiologist, Anesthesia VTS, and service specialists
  • Continuously monitor vital signs and anesthetic depth, identifying and responding to complications quickly and calmly
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation throughout each procedure
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices, reporting issues promptly
  • Communicate clearly with specialists and support staff across services before, during, and after procedures
  • Support pain management planning and post-operative recovery care
  • Assist in training and mentoring technicians and assistants on anesthesia protocols and monitoring standards, under the guidance of the Anesthesia VTS
  • Champion regulatory compliance (DEA, OSHA) as it relates to anesthesia and controlled substances
  • Contribute to SOPs and best practices that support safe, forward-thinking anesthetic care across specialty services

Requirements

Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent
CVT required, or actively pursuing licensure
VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia) preferred, not required (higher pay range for VTS)

Experience
2+ years of veterinary anesthesia experience required
Specialty or multi-service anesthesia experience preferred

Skills and Strengths
Strong technical knowledge of anesthesia protocols, drug calculations, and monitoring equipment
Calm, focused decision-making under pressure, especially during high-risk or neurosurgical procedures
Clear communicator who works well across multiple specialty teams with differing case needs
Meticulous attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
Comfortable adapting protocols for complex, high-acuity, or critical patients
Strong time management skills in a fast-paced, multi-service surgical environment

Physical Requirements
Lift or carry up to 40 lbs to waist height independently; assist with animals over 40 lbs
Restrain and position animals up to 200 lbs
Stand for extended periods during procedures, up to 10 hours per day
