Prevention Educator Women Helping Women Office Location: 215 E 9th St #7, Cincinnati, OH 45202 (program location is within schools and community settings and hours vary based on school and community availability) Who We Are Are you interested in being part of an organization dedicated to preventing gender-based violence and empowering survivors? At Women Helping Women, we believe in the power of survivors to rebuild their lives and are committed to providing the support and resources they need to do so. We operate on the principle that survivors are the experts of their own lives, and our mission is to stand by them on their journey from immediate safety to long-term stability. Our success is grounded in a comprehensive prevention approach that includes a five-day classroom-based program designed to equip students with the knowledge and resources needed to build healthy relationships in all areas of their lives. In addition, we provide community education and training for community partners on topics such as sexual assault, bystander intervention, sexual harassment, and domestic violence. Beyond the classroom, we also offer training for bar facilities and campus-based audiences, remaining actively engaged in efforts to create a world free from violence. Join us in making a meaningful and lasting impact on individuals and the broader community. What We’re Looking For We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Prevention Educator to deliver direct prevention education services to students in grades 7–12 while supporting survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and other forms of gender-based violence. This role provides classroom-based instruction on healthy relationship topics, including empathy, boundaries, consent, and bystander intervention, and delivers community education and training to community partners. The Prevention Educator plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission through engaging, trauma-informed education and outreach. As a Prevention Educator, you will serve as a frontline resource for survivors by empowering young adults through a five-day curriculum focused on gender-based topics and available resources. Through hands-on activities, you will advocate for students’ needs, encourage questions, and foster a safe, supportive environment that allows for disclosure. The role includes providing information and referrals to additional services, maintaining accurate client records, and participating in the evaluation of program policies and procedures. This position calls for a skilled advocate who is also a consistent, reliable, and empathetic presence for individuals during times of need. What You Will Be Responsible For Assist in the design and development of age‑appropriate, evidence‑informed primary prevention programs based on the needs of schools, community organizations, and professional partners. Plan, coordinate, and deliver approved prevention and education programmes, including WHW's Prevent & Empower program, Brave Bar Training, and other community education initiatives. Connect individuals who disclose a need for support during educational programmes with appropriate WHW staff or community resources. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, and professionals to expand prevention education opportunities. Collect, manage, and report programme data, outcomes, and required documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Contribute to the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programme goals and services. Maintain current knowledge of prevention education best practices and participate in ongoing professional development and required trainings. Demonstrate responsiveness to programme participants, survivors, and community needs when providing services. Ability to work independently while supporting collaboration, teamwork, and awareness of agency programmes and goals across departments. Deliver services in accordance with the agency's mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for all individuals. Maintain accurate records, reports, statistics, and documentation required by WHW, funders, and partner agencies. Submit mileage, expense reports, timesheets, and leave requests accurately and in compliance with agency policies. Participate in the review and revision of agency programmes, procedures, forms, and programme practices as needed. Recognise personal limitations and proactively communicate support needs or challenges to supervisors to ensure effective job performance. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, maintain organised and accessible programme files, records, and resources for staff use. Effectively manage workload and scheduling, maintaining flexibility to accommodate programme needs during school hours and occasional evenings or weekends. Perform other duties as assigned to support agency effectiveness. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the service area are required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, public health, social work, psychology, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience. At least one year experience facilitating educational presentations, trainings, or group programmes with youth and/or adults. Strong public speaking, communication, and relationship‑building skills. Ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt presentations to different age groups and settings. Experience building partnerships with schools, community organisations, and professional stakeholders. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and email. Required Skills & Competencies Active Listening: The ability to listen without judgement and understand a survivor's needs and experiences. Empathy and Compassion: A deep capacity to understand and share the feelings of another person, especially in a time of crisis.
