Food Service Assistant ( Full Time)

JOB SUMMARY Contributes to the overall success of LECOM by providing excellent customer service to all customers. Providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages / products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable environment in accordance with LECOM’s standard of excellence. EEO/AA/M/F/Vets/Disabled CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Establish and maintain effective working relationships; Knowledge of the protocols and procedures in Institutional education; Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of LECOM; Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team; Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues. Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a positive environment during each shift; Assists with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed; Contributes to positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in employee morale and performance and communicating them to the store manager; Delivers excellent customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs; Follows LECOM operational policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees during each shift; Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that employees can locate resources and various product as needed; Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products; Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational methods; Maintains regular and punctual attendance; Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction; Participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience; Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Effective communication skills, both written and verbal; Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment; Confident in handling ambiguity and fluid situations and have an abundance of common sense and pragmatism; Ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization and throw equal enthusiasm behind the more routine, hands‑on activities, as well as those requiring a higher profile; Organizational skills; must be accurate and attentive to detail; Ability to maintain an established work schedule; assess and prioritize multiple tasks and demands; Interpersonal skills to include tact and diplomacy; Organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through; Strong computer literacy and accurate data entry skills; Maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials; Establish and maintain effective working relationships; Knowledge of the protocols and procedures in Institutional education; Ability to learn quickly; Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed; Flexibility to accept other duties needed/assigned for the department needs; Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations; Ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM; and Ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and experience equivalent to: Education: High School diploma and/or equivalent required. Experience: Previous customer service experience preferred. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation; Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings; Meet store operating policies and standards, including, but not limited to, providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation; Engage with and understand our customers, including, but not limited to, discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication; Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including, but not limited to, recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients or substituted ingredients; and Be available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift.
