Hybrid work policy: 3–4 days in-office in Roseland, NJ (preferred) or Woodbridge, NJ. Senior hires get more flexibility.

About this role

We are looking for a Real Estate Associate or Counsel with 3–15 years of experience to join a Chambers Band 1 New Jersey real estate practice and take files off the plate of the practice leaders. You'll work on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions - acquisitions, financings, leasing, and development deals - for entrepreneurial NJ developers, property owners, and investors, all at a firm with 1,800-hour expectations and a genuine partner track.

• Drafting and negotiating PSAs, leases, and loan documents, and managing closings with minimal hand-holding

• Interfacing directly with entrepreneurial clients - bringing solutions, not just flagging issues

• Handling title and survey review on complex commercial deals

• Supporting land use and redevelopment matters including zoning approvals, redevelopment agreements, and PILOTs

• Working alongside practice leaders on marquee deals (CMBS loans, 1031 exchanges, mixed-use redevelopments) with real ownership from day one

• 3+ years of recent, continuous commercial real estate transactional experience at a law firm - not someone who "dabbled" and wants to come back

• Able to take a file and run it with partner oversight, not step-by-step supervision - the role is to save partners time, not create double work

• Stable tenure history - job hopping (e.g., 3 moves in 5 years) is the #1 disqualifier

• Strong written work product and attention to detail - your resume is your first writing sample

• Business-minded and client-facing demeanor - deal makers, not deal killers
