Description:
The unit comprises seven operating room suites.
An average of 15-20 cases is conducted per day.
All techs and registered nurses must possess current BLS certification.
Electronic medical records are managed using Cerner Surginet.
Charge nurses are present, but not on a 24/7 basis.
Operating room techs are available in the unit.
Registered nurses are required to be on call for one weekend each month.
Certified surgical technologists must also be on call for one weekend each month.
Call response time is set at 30 minutes.
Holiday work is only expected in emergencies.
Scrubs will be provided for the staff.
Television services are available via Phillips.
Surgeons are on call 24/7.
Respiratory therapy services are available around the clock.
Pharmacy services are not available at all times; alternative arrangements will be made after 10 PM.
Work shifts are 8 hours, with start times varying based on management scheduling.
Floating between units is not required.
Floor-specific orientation is based on individual skill sets.
The unit handles a high volume of orthopedic cases, including total joints.
General, gynecological, pediatric, and ophthalmic surgeries are also performed.
Cardiac cases are managed separately; travelers will not participate in these.
Scrubbing is required for surgical techs, while it is preferred but not mandatory for registered nurses.
Certified sterile processing technicians must have BLS certification and certification through IAHCSMM.
Equipment used includes an autoclave, and Steris & V-pro systems are in operation.
The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts within a 13-week assignment.
Charting is conducted using Cerner.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required for this position.
The work setting involves acute care.
Allied professionals are needed in a varied, fast-paced environment.
Shifts are scheduled based on operational needs.
BLS certification and CST are mandatory qualifications.
