This is a contract job opportunity. Position: Phlebotomist 5440. Location: Menifee CA and area (float job). Schedule: 6AM to 6PM- M-F. Shifts will only be 8 hours but depending on coverage, may need to arrive at 6AM or end as late as 6 PM. Projected duration: 3 months. Pay rate – $20.00 to $22.00 per hour depending on experience. Benefits are available. Will float to Menifee, Perris, Hemmit, Temecula, Fall Brook, and Wildomar locations. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Mileage expenses paid. Requires pediatric and geriatric experience.

Description: The primary role of a blood extraction specialist is to aid in executing various assigned tasks, problem solving, training, and offering recommendations to enhance work efficiency.

Responsibilities: Proficiency in blood extraction, specimen labeling, specimen centrifugation, maintenance data recording and decontamination, patient information updating, etc. Harvests and preserves specimens in accordance with established protocols. Clearly and courteously explains the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection to patients. Demonstrates appropriate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully comprehends all physician orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as per test order requirements. Ensures accuracy by checking all test requisitions against script. Packages specimens for transport. Stores specimens at the correct temperature, places them in suitable collection containers/tubes, labels accurately, and follows specific transport procedures to maintain specimen integrity. Adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations. Participates in annual department trainings. Responds to telephone inquiries and reads laboratory results.

Minimum Requirements: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the relevant state. At least 6 months’ experience performing venipunctures in a high-paced laboratory or hospital environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years of experience.
