Adjunct Faculty

Job Summary This part‑time faculty position at the Albany Campus requires teaching first and second‑year courses in machining trades while helping students build real‑world skills and safety habits that meet industry standards. Candidates will conduct hands‑on lab work and provide meaningful feedback to support student success. Responsibilities Teach first and second‑year courses in Machine Tool or Manufacturing Technology. Promote excellence in instruction. Identify and meet the learning needs of students. Develop course schedules and syllabi. Plan, develop, and deliver classroom lectures and activities, and design tests and other methods to evaluate student progress and competence. Work effectively with students, staff, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Communicate effectively in oral and written English. Maintain accurate grade and attendance records. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Physical ability to stand for extended periods in a machine shop or classroom. Requires hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate machine tools, handle parts, and demonstrate equipment use. Normal hearing and speaking skills to communicate over shop equipment noise. Visual acuity to read precision instruments, technical drawings, and computer screens. Work includes frequent standing, walking, reaching, occasional bending, stooping, and lifting light to medium weight (10–50 pounds). Work is indoors in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, vibration, metal shavings, cutting fluids, and industrial materials. Protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and closed‑toe footwear is required. Required Employment Conditions Applicants must submit an unofficial academic transcript showing a qualifying degree and a proof of veteran status if applicable. A criminal background check (C4) is required. New employees must be Oregon residents, be eligible for U.S. employment, and complete a post‑offer criminal background check. Salary and Compensation Courses are paid on a per‑credit basis. New part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the pay scale, with steps rolled once per term if eligible. Compensation is provided via direct deposit. Salary rates and compensation per hour for meetings, training, advising, curriculum development, and related work are as listed in the attached tables.
